Into the Woods by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine brings together the stories of Cinderella, Jack (of Jack and the Beanstalk), Little Red Riding Hood, Rapunzel, and a Baker and his Wife whose lives become unexpectedly intertwined. The story begins when the Baker and his Wife learn that a Witch has cursed their family, preventing them from having a child. To break the spell, they must journey into the woods and collect four unusual items: a cow as white as milk, a cape as red as blood, hair as yellow as corn, and a slipper as pure as gold. Along the way, they cross paths with several fairy tale characters who are each pursuing a wish of their own.

In Act One, the characters achieve their dreams: Cinderella attends the prince's festival, Jack trades his cow for magic beans, Little Red Riding Hood ventures through the woods to visit her grandmother, and the Baker and his Wife complete their quest. It appears that everyone has found their "happily ever after."

But Act Two asks what happens after the fairy tale ends. A vengeful giant descends from the sky seeking revenge for her husband's death, and the consequences of the characters' earlier choices begin to unravel. As the kingdom falls into chaos, friendships are tested, secrets are revealed, and several characters face loss, guilt, and difficult moral decisions.

This is a musical about parents and children, the stories we inherit, the lessons we pass along, and taking responsibility for our choices. Perhaps most importantly, it's a reminder that even when the path becomes uncertain, no one is alone. Join us for Into the Woods.

Recommended for ages 13 and up.

While magical, humorous, and uplifting, this production explores darker, more complex aspects of Brothers Grimm fables, including scenes of violence and death, child loss and neglect, infidelity, and characters facing moral dilemmas. For more detailed information, including spoilers, please click here
