Our in-person theatre training is back! Join us for five days of physically-distanced classes, for three hours each day, to play theatre games, work on monologues and scenes, and learn three amazing musical theatre dance combinations. Plus, this bootcamp includes a Voice Over Workshop, an Audition Workshop, a Playwriting Workshop, and a special Q&A with a Broadway performer.

Classes will be taught by Associate Artistic Director David Connolly along with special guest instructors who are all professional artists. In order to facilitate physical distancing, there are only 10 students per class with staggered arrivals and departures.

The Drayton Entertainment Youth Musical Theatre Program is designed to cultivate community, encourage leadership, ignite the imagination, and boost confidence, while providing aspiring young performers with the opportunity to learn from professional theatre artists and develop a deeper appreciation for live performance.

Masks, physical distancing, and other safety measures will be required.

Health & Safety

Classes will operate in strict accordance with the Ontario Ministry of Health and Public Services Health and Safety Association guidelines, protocols and directives.

By purchasing the summer bootcamp, you agree to follow health and safety measures, including but not limited to wearing a mask, ensuring physical distancing, and other precautions as outlined by Drayton Entertainment.

Protocols include, but are not limited to:
- Masks required at all times
- Mandatory healthy screening at check-in
- Hand sanitizer upon entry and exit
- Only registered students may enter the building at staggered times to reduce cross-over
- Parents encouraged stay in their cars with entrance and exits monitored by staff
- Capacity is 10 students per class, determined by studio dimensions as divided by 8 foot squares, always allowing for movement without encroachment
- A cohort will be assigned to the same studio space for the whole week
- Outdoor belongings (shoes, jackets) are kept in bags stored two metres apart outside the dance studio

As a Director, Choreographer, Arts Advocate, and Educator, David Connolly has built a multi-faceted career spanning over 25 years in the professional performing arts industry. From professional Canadian stages to Broadway and beyond, David's wide variety of experience includes everything from directing the Canadian regional premieres of Disney's Newsies, Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Mamma Mia! and High School Musical, to film and television work for CBS, NBC, ABC, PBS, and CBC including the reality show How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria? and the popular kids show The Doodlebops. He has also collaborated with artists including Katy Perry, Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber, The Tenors, Elton John, Sarah Jessica Parker, kd lang, Patti LaBelle, Sarah Brightman and many others.

As the only amputee to have ever performed on Broadway, David is a proud advocate who's deeply committed to matters concerning inclusion in the arts. As an educator he has been an Adjunct Professor, Director, and Advisor to the Musical Theatre Performance Programs at Sheridan College, Randolph College, Fanshawe College, and St Lawrence College. He has also been a Lead Adjudicator and Clinician with numerous Dance and Show Choir Competitions across North America. David holds an Honours Bachelor Degree in Musical Theatre Performance from Sheridan College. He is a recipient of the Premier of Ontario's Award of Excellence and a Lifetime Achievement Award from Arts Awards Waterloo Region.

Billy Lake has been teaching and performing professionally in Canada for almost 15 years. A graduate of Sheridan College, he spent 10 years working at the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake, performing in such shows as Peter and the Starcatcher, Cabaret, Guys and Dolls, Major Barbara, My Fair Lady, Saint Joan, and countless others. Billy appeared in and was excited to be in previews for Kinky Boots last spring when theatres everywhere shut down. He now lives in Toronto with his husband, fellow Drayton performer Aidan deSalaiz, and they both perform as part of the cabaret-trio Trillium in backyards around Southern Ontario.

Mark Crawford is a playwright and actor. He is the author of Stag and Doe, Bed and Breakfast, The Birds and the Bees (produced by Drayton Entertainment in 2018), Boys, Girls, and Other Mythological Creatures, and The New Canadian Curling Club. His plays have been performed across Canada and internationally, and are published by Scirocco Drama. This summer, he premieres a new solo show titled Chase the Ace at outdoor venues around Ontario.
