Based on the DreamWorks Animation Motion Picture and the book by William Steig Book & Lyrics by David Lindsay-Abaire Music by Jeanine Tesori Originally produced on Broadway by DreamWorks Theatricals and Neal Street Productions
The greatest fairy tale never told comes to life in this fun-filled and hilarious musical comedy based on the hit animated movie.
In a faraway kingdom turned upside down, things get ugly when an unseemly ogre – not a handsome prince – shows up to rescue a feisty princess. Throw in a wisecracking donkey, villain with a short temper, cookie with an attitude, and over a dozen other beloved misfits, and you've got the kind of mess that calls for a real hero.
Join the big, bright, life-changing adventure as a grumpy green ogre learns a lesson in acceptance, while finding unexpected friendships and surprising romance along the way. Whether you’re young or young-at-heart, Shrek The Musical is guaranteed to have you dancing in the aisles and laughing all the way home. Don’t miss it!
Recommended for ages 5 and up.
Running Time: 2 hours and 30 minutes, including 20 min intermission.
This was such a wonderful performance! For young, old alike. It was by far, our favorite play we've seen at the Huron County Playhouse. All characters were so wonderfully enchanting in their performances. Donkey stole the show in my opinion but everyone was so brilliant. The dragon was amazing, had an incredible voice, you had a lot of fun singing along & understanding the message that we ALL belong, all have a place, purpose and worth on this journey through life. Truly well done. Highly recommend.

Absolutely incredible! The set, the actors, this was, by far the best show we've seen yet! The crowd was full of kids which made the message being delivered even more important, a message of inclusivity. I can't pick one character as a favourite because they were all enchanting.
The song at the end got the crowd up and dancing. A night to remember!

One of the best productions I have seen over many years attending Drayton productions. The costumes were amazing, the acting and choreography were great and the stage sets were wonderful. A great production for children and adults alike.

I took my 10 year old granddaughter to Shrek the Musical and we absolutely loved it. A terrific performance by all. The story was familiar and the singing and music was perfect. The experience formed a great memory for us. Thanks to all involved.

Excellent show with strong performances! The choreography, costumes and set design all made for a very visually appealing show. It was the first live stage performance for two of our grandchildren and they loved it. Highly recommend this musical for all ages!!!
