ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION
Drayton Entertainment is a registered, not-for-profit charitable organization and one of Canada's most successful professional theatre companies. We present the finest in live theatre for all ages at seven unique venues across Ontario: the Drayton Festival Theatre in Drayton, Huron Country Playhouse (Mainstage and South Huron Stage) in Grand Bend, King's Wharf Theatre in Penetanguishene, St. Jacobs Country Playhouse and Schoolhouse Theatre in St. Jacobs, and Hamilton Family Theatre Cambridge. In addition to our seven venues, we also operate a Youth Academy in Waterloo, Ontario.
JOB DESCRIPTION / DUTIES
Drayton Entertainment is searching for a candidate to fill contract position of Stitcher – Hamilton Family Theatre for the 2023 Season. The contract will start May 1st, 2023 and finish on May 19th, 2023.
Duties and Responsibilities shall include but not be limited to:
· Provide your own basic kit for sewing that will include scissors, clear ruler, seam ripper, thimble, chalk or marking pencil
· Assemble costumes as assigned by the Cutter or the First Hand.
· Assist the Cutter and First Hand you are assigned to in the preparation of costumes and follow the instructions of the cutter accurately and efficiently
· Work in a cooperative and efficient manner
· Assist in the cleanliness of the Wardrobe Room
· Report all accidents/incidents to the Head of Wardrobe immediately
· Maintain the machinery that you use to the best of your ability. Inform the Wardrobe Supervisor of any machine problems that may occur so that they may be fixed as soon as possible
· Be assigned by the Head of Wardrobe and/or Wardrobe Supervisor, from time to time as scheduling permits, duties that are not defined in this position profile
· Uphold the professional image and name of the Theatre in good faith during all dealings with staff, guest artists, the public suppliers and other theatre companies
From time to time, other duties may be assigned as required.
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Excellent communication skills
· Knowledge and expertise in costume techniques and materials
· Ability to work independently
· Minimum 5 years experience in costume construction/sewing
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
This position is based at the Hamilton Family Theatre, Cambridge ON. Individuals required to work onsite must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination in accordance with Drayton Entertainment’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy. Accommodations may be requested due to medical exemption.
Salary: $21.00-$23.00 per hour plus 4% vacation pay (typically a 40 hour work week)
