A Message From Alex

Introducing our new Youth Academy

Alex Mustakas in blue shirt and yellow tieDrayton Entertainment stands at a pivotal point in our history, marked by an extended intermission due to a worldwide pandemic. The interruption in producing live theatre has provided time for us to carefully examine, collaborate, and develop actionable steps towards greater equity, diversity, and inclusion.

We have seen firsthand the impact we have on the lives of young people through arts education, engagement, and outreach.  As we look to the future, we are committed to inspiring and empowering the next generation of artists onstage and behind-the-scenes, as well as providing positive experiences which transcend the arts to shape future leaders and community-minded citizens.

The arts have always been at the forefront of social transformation. The world has changed significantly over the past year, and we have an opportunity and responsibility to change with it by supporting a broader generational shift in our society.

We will accomplish this by providing training opportunities to youth in the Drayton Entertainment brand of performing arts excellence, facilitated by passionate, professional industry mentors. The resulting Youth Academy will be a cultural incubator where we cultivate community, inspire leadership, spark imagination, and boost confidence in a socially aware, inclusive environment. And with your support, we’ll do it together.

Academy Logo

The symbolism of the butterfly found in our new Youth Academy logo is universally related to its journey that starts crawling and ends flying. It represents powerful transformation, metamorphosis, growth, learning, and endless potential. Butterflies are considered teachers of creative play, always living in the present moment and not taking time for granted.

The colours of the butterfly correlate to the multi-coloured seats in the Drayton Entertainment logo, which represent each of our seven stages.
